2024: new list, old wish?

How to turn your Wish into Reality

You have a wish: speak and understand English better.

Perhaps you've been having this wish for some time now,

but never quite turned it into reality.

If you want to make sure this time you turn it into reality,

instead of yet another regret,

there are three steps you need to go through.

1. Decide your priorities

We all have more than one wish, but not all of our wishes

have the same priority at a given moment in our life.

It might be worth asking yourself the following questions:

Why do I want to improve my English?

Why now and not last year?

Why now and not next year?

What are the long-term consequences of not improving it?

How would improving my English impact my life?

Why would that make a difference to me?

Why?

Keep asking why until you get to the core of the reason

why improving your English is a priority to you right now.

Being honest and clear about your priorities, and therefore

making a conscious decision, will save you time, energy and frustration.

2. Turn your Wish into an actionable Plan

If your wish is a priority to you right now, then it deserves a plan.

An Actionable Plan.

This is what it should look like:

  1. Understand your starting point (current English skills)

  2. Decide where you want to go next (goal)

  3. Break your goal into short-term achievable objectives

  4. Book your daily practice time in your diary (like any other activity)

3. Take Action: understand your starting point

I do not have a magic formula.

What I have is a system that works.
